Our Mission
To give our residents opportunities to reach their goals by developing their living skills in a community-focussed, Sydney-central
independence-building low-cost accommodation.
Smith’s Hall Guesthouse is a fully licensed Assisted Boarding House (ABH) in Rozelle,
in Sydney’s beautiful inner west, within close proximity to the Sydney CBD.
We aim to provide a safe and secure environment where residents can develop or maintain
daily living skills and independence with the availability of supports as needed.
As a resident at Smith’s Hall, this low-cost accommodation option is the perfect pathway to where you eventually want to live – with all meals included, 24-hour on-site staffing, laundry and cleaning services,
the possibility of starting meaningful friendships and lots of organised social activities.
Additionally, we offer access to functional assessment tools and skill-building activities via external funding
to further you along the road to independent living.
Residing at Smith’s Hall Guesthouse gives you the opportunity to develop necessary daily living skills
– it’s a pathway to your goal of living independently in the community.

Location
Smith’s Hall is located in the leafy inner-city area of Rozelle,
about 2km from Sydney’s Darling Harbour and 3km from Sydney’s CBD.
We are lucky enough to be across the lane from Easton Park, full of historic shady fig trees and often bustling with community sports games to enjoy. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a late afternoon walk in the park,
or an organised weekend picnic.
Public transport is close by and easily accessible – a short walk across the park to the Sydney Light Rail system, or State Transit buses which can take you directly to the CBD or Central Station.
Supports are available to help you on your way and become familiar with public transport.

Lifestyle
Each resident has access to supports to become as independent as possible with their support plan, peers, and friendly staff.
All residents are offered their own bedroom (with the opportunity to share if requested), and each room has access to WiFi for connection to personal laptops, phones and other devices.
We focus on promoting self-esteem, ensuring residents always have choice and control, building independence, and ensuring they have the necessary support to nurture current and future goals and interests.
Specially organised social programmes and activities reflect the visions and interests of our residents. Various pursuits are on offer each week, including physical activities, cognitive stimulation, creative projects, social events, and occasional trips and excursions – designed to enrich life and make each day meaningful.
Mealtimes matter to our residents, and to us, we are dedicated to meeting our residents’ dietary requirements. Menus are prepared in consultation with dieticians and cooked from scratch every day using only the best quality and seasonal ingredients.
Outside, Smith’s Hall boasts a lovely sunny courtyard which is much loved and used by residents throughout the year. There is also an enormous shaded wrap-around balcony on the upper level overlooking the community park and with views across the city.

SCREENING TOOL ASSESSMENT
ABH’s are licensed by the Dept of Community and Justice and are a low-cost privately run supported accommodation model for people with a disability and additional needs.
As a result, we are not permitted to accept new residents without
a Screening Tool Assessment for eligibility.
The Assessment asks a series of straightforward questions about whether a person with a disability and additional needs could manage life in an ABH.
It’s a simple process that we are happy to initiate for you.
